La Forge Restaurant - Custom Metal Furniture
1

Provocare

The owner of La Forge restaurant in Brasov wanted to create an authentic industrial atmosphere with all furniture made from metal and reclaimed wood. The challenge was to produce 15 tables, 60 chairs, 2 bar counters and display shelving, all with unique designs, within just 6 weeks.

Solutie

We proposed a unified concept based on raw steel with a wax finish, combined with reclaimed oak from old beams. We created a modular system that allowed customisation of each piece while maintaining stylistic coherence. Prototypes were approved in the first week, and series production benefited from dedicated templates and welding jigs.

Rezultat

The restaurant opened on schedule, and the furniture became a defining element of the brand. Guests frequently praise the authentic industrial design, and La Forge received the award for best interior design at the 2024 regional HoReCa competition. The owner subsequently commissioned furniture for the outdoor terrace.

La Forge restaurant set out to bring the spirit of traditional forges into the contemporary culinary world. The very name is a tribute to master blacksmiths, and the owner wanted every piece of furniture to reflect this philosophy. Tables were produced in three sizes: tables for 2 (60x60cm), for 4 (120x80cm), and a 3-metre communal table. Each table structure consists of legs from 50x50x3mm square tube with adjustable bases, while the tops are made from 40mm thick reclaimed oak boards, edge-joined and treated with linseed oil. Chairs have a welded frame from 16mm round bar with a seat and backrest of 25mm oak board. We built a welding jig that allowed us to produce 8 chairs per day with tolerances under 2mm, ensuring uniformity across the entire series. The bar counters, each 4 metres long, are the centrepieces of the space. The heavy steel structure features a 60mm solid wood top and a perforated steel plate front, incorporating LED lighting and a lower bottle shelf. The wax finish on the steel allows a natural patina to develop over time, with each piece acquiring a unique character.
