Classic Wrought Iron Balcony Railings
This project involved creating railings for the 8 balconies of a boutique hotel in the historical centre of Brasov. The design was developed in close collaboration with the restoration architect, respecting the neoclassical style of the listed heritage building, dating from the 19th century.
Each railing measures 2.4 metres in length and 1.1 metres in height, composed of a structural frame from 30x30x4mm T-section and hot-forged decorative elements: scrolls from 14mm round bar, acanthus leaves from 30x5mm flat bar, and central rosettes forged from solid block. All decorative elements were handcrafted, with each railing requiring approximately 40 hours of work.
The finish was chosen to match the other metalwork on the building: an artificial bronze patina over a black paint base, achieved through the manual application of metallic pigments. The result faithfully recreates the appearance of the original period railings, contributing to the authentic restoration of the facade.
