Laser-Cut Corten Steel Decorative Panels

This artistic installation was commissioned by the Metal Arts Gallery in Bucharest for the inner courtyard of their exhibition space. The three-panel composition creates a play of light and shadow that changes throughout the day, transforming the courtyard into a living, dynamic space.

The three panels each measure 2.5x1.5 metres and are fabricated from 5mm Corten steel plate. The design, created in collaboration with visual artist Andrei Barbu, represents an abstraction of native plant forms: oak leaves, wildflowers and branches. Laser cutting with 0.1mm precision allows the faithful reproduction of the finest details.

The panels are mounted on independent structures of black-painted steel, positioned at varying distances from the rear wall to create a three-dimensional depth effect. The Corten steel was left to develop its natural rust patina over 6 months of weathering, achieving warm shades of orange and brown that blend perfectly with the outdoor setting.
