Beam Console Brackets for Overhead Crane
We fabricated a set of 16 console brackets for the installation of a 5-tonne overhead crane in a machining workshop in Sibiu. The brackets needed to integrate into the existing building structure, constructed in the 1980s, without compromising its integrity.
Each bracket was fabricated from 200x20mm flat bar with 12mm plate stiffening ribs, designed to carry a concentrated load of 3.5 tonnes per bearing point. Calculations were performed in accordance with SR EN 1993-6 for crane-supporting structures. Fillet welds were dimensioned at 8mm throat thickness and executed using MAG welding with preheat to 100 degrees Celsius.
After fabrication, all brackets were inspected through visual examination and dye penetrant testing. Installation on the existing reinforced concrete columns was carried out using Hilti HIT-RE 500 V3 chemical anchoring, with each bracket secured by 4 M20 class 8.8 anchors.
